Last Visit to Yellowstone

I had a long list of things I wanted to do before we left Idaho. I didn't get to most of them but we did make it to Yellowstone one last time. Our tradition has been to go in May when they have Free National Park Day. I am sure most National Parks are pretty packed that day but not Yellowstone because it is just opening for the season and some of the main roads are still closed. I love it because there aren't the huge crowds that you find in summer. You aren't fighting for a parking spot or being pushed out of the way to look at a mud pot, hot spring, or wildlife.
We managed to find a hotel and drove up Saturday afternoon. Saturday we walked around West Yellowstone and looked in the shops around town. We got up Early Sunday morning and headed into the park.
You can't really tell from this picture but the black spot by Jared's head is a Grizzly Bear. It's the first time we've seen one in the park.
We spotted some Elk.

I love all the amazing colors the hot springs and I guess I like the two kids in the picture too.

Yellowstone finally finished the construction of the walkway and parking area for this waterfall which I believe is Gibbon Falls.

The kids watching Old Faithful

The visitors center at Old Faithful is pretty cool. My kids love exploring the interactive exhibits. I always have to pry them away.

Pretty decent picture of Bill and I.

More amazing geological features

My family showing their true colors.

I believe this is Tower Falls. Gorgeous!!

Kyle and Alysa were able to go with us.

We managed to come across snow, there actually was still quit a bit.

Alysa caught a picture of Jared taking a picture of a buffalo. I love it!

Mammoth Hot Springs, A picture of the whole family! I couldn't believe how different the area was compared to this time last year.

We saw a ton of Bison. At one point we were driving along the road and a bunch were crossing the road. My brother opened the van door and took a picture. Crazy...glad he's alive to tell the tale.

For our last trip to Yellowstone in who knows how long it didn't disappoint.
